More Than 252,000 Accidents in Florida

Florida has over 16 million drivers and each year there are millions of tickets written and a lot of traffic accidents on Florida Highways and Roads. The Department of Motor Vehicles collects traffic report data from the various law enforcement agencies and produces a comprehensive report. The 2004 crash data shows who is writing tickets, the cause of accidents, where the accidents occur, and a snapshot of the drivers involved.

There were 252,902 traffic accidents in Florida 2004.


Drivers Involved

376,111 drivers were involved in accidents, which suggests that some drivers had more than one car accident.


Car Crashes Per Day

Florida avereaged 691 crashes per day.


Fatalities and Fatal Crashes

3,257 drivers were killed in 2,936 fatal crashes.


Injuries in Auto Crashes

In 142,388 injury crashes 227,192 Florida drivers were injured.


Alcohol Related Crashes

23,000 traffic crashes were related to alcohol. In those drunk driving accidents 17,580 drivers or passengers were injured and 1,093 people were killed.


Pedestrians Involved in Car Accidents

8,084 pedestrians were involved in traffic accidents. These accidents resulted in 504 pedestrian deaths and 7,551 injuries.


Bicycle Related Crashes

5,203 bicycles were involved in traffic crashes of which 119 were killed and 4,820 were injured.


Motorcycle Crashes in 2004 in Florida

Motorcycles were involved in 7,367 accidents that resulted in 388 deaths and 6,558 injuries.
