Identification Requirements
The first step towards getting your Florida drivers license is to complete the DATA course. DATA stands for Drugs, Alcohol, Traffic Awareness. It's a four hour course required by the state of Florida for anyone - regardless of age- getting their first drivers license. The state of Florida recently changed the ID requirements making it more difficult to get a drivers license.
Upon completion of the DATA course you will be asked to enter your social security number, your alien registration number, or your non-alien registration number. If you do not have a social security number and are not sure what number to enter you have a few options.
The Florida drivers manual has extensive details on the different forms of immigration documents required to establish your identity when applying for a Florida drivers license or state of Florida ID card.
