DUI Checkpoint - June 22 - 23, 2007
The Broward County Sheriffs Offce has a DUI checkpoint planned on June 22, 2007 starting at 9:00pm and ending at approximately 3:00am on June 23. The checkpoint will be located on South State Road 7, in North Fort Lauderdale.

The ares of South State Road 7 is a major thorough fare running north south. There are many hotels and resorts in the area and in surrounding cities to the south such as Margate there is a heavy concentraion of pubs and bars.

The DUI Checkpoint is being setup by the Broward Sheriffs Office DUI Task Force in conjunction with other agencies and municipalities. Impaired drivers will be identified and Florida DUI laws will be enforced.

Broward County DUI Statistics

Broward County has seen a steady drop in DUI convictions since 2005. In 2004 there were 3,175 DUI convictions in Broward County. That number dropped a dramatic 43 percent in 2005 to 1,797. The number of DUI convictions in 2006 was 1,606 an 11 percent drop from 2005.
